‘Aberfeldy Street’ // Client : Jan kattein Architects / Poplar Harca

Brief: Celebrate a diverse community and bring life to a disadvantaged area of London.

A regeneration project  to develop and implement a creative strategy to revive the high street celebrating the areas legacy of garment manufacture. Jan Katteins design team collected a selection of patterns from the local community and re-interpreted them across the 26 buildings.

The project was inspired by the Bangladeshi kantha tradition of recycling old textiles to create something new. In collaboration with The London Mural Company we then hand painted the provided designs across the street, taking just under six weeks to complete.

The Project was featured in national press including the Metro, The Daily Mail online and ITV News.
